Here it is! The much awaited slide show of the 2006 Colorado State Gold Panning Championships from deep in the beautiful Colorado mountains. Breckenridge, Colorado and the Gold Prospectors of Colorado host the competition each year for three days, the first weekend of August, to competitors of all ages, guys and dolls, from old timers to 5 year olds. Competitions include Old Timers, National Style, Men's, Women's, Juniors, Teams, Colorado State, World's Dry, and the public can get their hands wet panning in the troughs with expert instructions from club members. This event is put on entirely by volunteers who come each year to teach, practice, compete, time, judge, and have a rip roarin' good time panning, cleaning gold, jawin', and telling "fish" stories about the BIG nugget that got away.
